Holly Owen
Registered Psychotherapist, (They/Them), First Responder Trained
The idea of therapy can be rather intimidating and overwhelming, but with the right support and person(s) on your team, you can begin to heal and make meaningful changes to your life. I think it’s important to have open dialogue wherein you can freely explore and be curious about your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
As your therapist, I strive to make sure that you feel heard, understood, and validated throughout our time together. Therapy is different for everyone and taking an individualized approach means that we can work together to find strategies and ways to process thoughts and emotions that are tailored specifically to you. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation that everything else we will do is built on, so it’s important to me that you feel safe to express yourself open and honestly.
I like to use a collaborative, strength-based, trauma-informed approach wherein we collaborative work towards what feels authentic to you. Every person’s journey in therapy is different, and I strive to create an environment where we can address whatever is distressing for you so you can live a more fulfilling life.
Specific area of interest: First Responders (family and spouses of included), LGBTQIA+ experiences, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Athlete mental health issues, sleep issues, self-esteem, and school related stressor. I also have experience supporting individuals who are neuro-divergent.
When I’m not at the office, I enjoy yoga, reading fantasy or crime novels, listening to music or a podcast (True Crime is a go to), or playing video games. Truthfully, I get the most joy from animals, especially my dog Asta, and watching documentaries.
